KNOW FIBER OPTIC NETWORK

KNOW FIBER OPTIC NETWORK

On this occasion I want to share knowledge and also experience about fiber optic technology, my work coincidence is closely related to fiber optic is hopefully can give a picture for friends of all friends :)
Perhaps now among the people of Indonesia is no stranger to the internet technology that uses fiber optic media to source internet connection, many ISP (Internet Service Provider) which offers cheap package price by using this fiber optic media.

Fiber Optic

Well here I will try to explain a bit about fiber optic from several sources and also my personal experience in field related to fiber optic as explanation of what is fiber optic? , how is fiber optic working principle? , advantages and disadvantages of fiber optic? , component fiber optic components?

Okay start.
Fiber optic is one type of transmission line made of glass fiber size is quite thin once more or less the corenya size 125 micron more or less like a human hair, this core is used to transmit light signals from one place to another to a distance of 50km without using repeater. Wave signals can be either rapid encoding of voice communications or computer data. Thus, optical fibers are particularly suitable for use in telecommunication system applications for now.

How is fiber optic working principle?
In principle, optical fiber reflects and refracts the light that travels within it. The efficiency of the optical fiber is determined by the purity of the glass / glass composer. The purer the glass material, the less light is absorbed by the optical fiber.
To transmit telephone or internet conversations via fiber optics , analog signals are converted into digital signals. A laser transmitter on one end of the cable performs on / off to transmit every bit of signal. A modern fiber optic system with a single laser can transmit millions of bits / second. Or it could be said laser transmitter on and off millions of times / second.
A fiber optic cable is made of pure glass fibers, so that despite its long pounds, light can still be emitted from one end to the other.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of fiber optic?

there are several advantages of Fiber optic include:

1. Large capacity (bandwidth) in transmitting existing information has a high speed, to reach several gigabit / second.
2. Signal degradation is smaller, not affected on electromagnetic waves and radio frequencies Because it is made of glass and pure plastic.
3. Its size is small, light, thinner and Flexible: it has a smaller diameter than copper cable making it easier to supply and install.
4. Inexpensive when compared with the amount of transmission power of copper cable Capacity is greater
5. Optical fiber is safe, Non-flammable: no electric current.
Lack of Fiber Optics

Of the many advantages offered by the use of fiber optic cable also has shortcomings, among others, the price is relatively expensive, especially in connection, because to connect this optical core requires a special tool called fiber optic splicer and to connect these cores require expertise and thoroughness in the cable connection optical fiber, because for the optical core itself should not be nekuk which resulted in the cores are broken.

Components of fiber optic components

A communication system is certainly not only supported by one or two components or devices only. In it there must be many alloy components that work together with each other. The combination and cooperation will generate many benefits for the ongoing transfer of information. Thus, be a communication system .
In it there is a modulation process so that actual information signals can be made possible through the air. And upon arrival at the destination location, the demodulation process will happen to open the original information again. If it runs in a long distance then signal amplifier is definitely needed.
Communication process on fiber optic system also experience the same thing as other communication system. The five major components in fiber optic communication systems are as follows:

1. Light carrier information

This is the source of the origin of optical fiber communication system. Light, a natural component that has many advantages is exploited so clever to carry data with very high speed and bandwidth. All the advantages of light seem to be used here. High-speed light, a light that is immune to disturbances, a far-reaching light, all of which you will feel using this fiber-optic medium.

2. Optical Transmitter (Transmitter)

Example of Optical Transmitter / Transmitter
Example of OLT (Optical Laser Transmitter) For FTTH
Optical transmitter is a component in charge of sending the light signals into the carrier media. In this component there is a process of converting analog electronic and digital signals into a form of light signals. This signal then serves as a correspondence signal for your data. Optical transmitters are physically very close to fiber optic media on their use. And even the optical transmitter is equipped with a lens that will focus light into the fiber optic media. Light source of this component can vary.
Commonly used light source is Light Emitting Diode (LED) or solid state laser diode. Light sources that use LEDs consume less power than lasers. But as a consequence, the rays emitted by the LED can not travel as far as the laser.

3. Cable Core Fiber optic
These components are the main actors in this system. Core fiber optics usually consists of one or more optical fibers that will serve to guide those lights from their original location to the destination. Core fiber optic construction is almost like an electrical cable, but there is little additional protection to protect the light transmission. Usually fiber optic cable can also be connected, but with a very complicated process. This cable connection process is often called splicing term.

4. Optical regenerator / amplifier / repeater
Optical regenerator or in the Indonesian language light signal amplifier, is actually a component that does not need to exist when you use fiber optic media in close range only.
The light signal you send will not be degraded within 1 km. Therefore, if you do play in the long distance, this component becomes the main component as well.Usually optical generator is connected in the middle of fiber optic media to further strengthen weak signals.

5. Optical receiver
Optical receivers have the task of capturing all the light transmitted by the optical transmitter. After light is captured from fiber optic media, this signal will be decoded into digital signals which is nothing but information transmitted. Once decoded, the electrical signal is sent to the processing system such as to television, to computer, to phone, and many other digital devices. Usually optical receiver is a light sensor such as photocell or photodiode that is very sensitive and sensitive to light changes.

Well maybe so much for the article about fiber optic, next for articles related to fiber optic I will discuss again. Hopefully this little information can provide an overview for all friends who are learning and want to know about internet technology by using fiber optic media
